Jay-Z connects to a higher power in the second visual off his current Magna Carta Holy Grail album. With the assistance of Justin Timberlake, the two summer tourmates ignite mass destruction around them in “Holy Grail.” Continuing his #NewRules campaign, Jay-Z debuts the Anthony Mandler-directed video through Facebook, making him the first major artist to premiere a music video through the social network’s site. Nick Grudin, head of content partnerships for Facebook, released a statement on the “Holy Grail” debut below. The platinum-selling Magna Carta Holy Grail is available now on iTunes. Enjoy.
The arts and rap performance come together in Picasso Baby, a cut off the Magna Carta Holy Grail album by Jay-Z. The rapper-mogul and director Mark Romanek (“99 Problems”) capture 30 hours of footage into a 10-min piece fittingly titled Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film. Jay-Z has already made his feelings known about George Zimmerman's not guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin murder case, attending a rally to protest the verdict in New York and dedicating a performance of "Forever Young" to the slain teen. But he further criticized the controversial decision in a recent interview with hip-hop journalist Elliott Wilson. Jay-Z says when he found out about the verdict, he was "really angry" and didn't sleep for two days. [Watch & Read More]

On the eve of Magna Carta Holy Grail’s official release to non-Samsung Galaxy users, Jay-Z held an impromptu Q&A with fans via Twitter. Assuring his fans there are no ghost tweeters behind his @S_C_ account, Hova answered a slew of questions including his inspirations behind a few #MCHG tracks, a gentrified Brooklyn, his favorite Michael Jackson songs and so much more. Yet when asked if there was a finished version to Dead Presidents 3, the legendary Brooklyn emcee responded with “Just or Guru has it I give them Twitter permission to GO.” Without any hesitation Young Guru – the longtime engineer of Jay – took to Twitter to bless us all with the finished version to the aforementioned track. Hip-hop heads may remember this ode to the all-mighty dollar first premiered on a DJ Green Lantern mixtape back in 2007, but has since sat comfortably in Guru’s vault, which surely holds plenty more unreleased tracks. Check it out below and cop Jay-Z’s twelfth studio album on iTunes today. Enjoy.
It’s pretty rare to hear Jay-Z talk about his daughter with Beyoncé, Blue Ivy Carter, and in a new video, he not only opens up … he has to fight back the tears. While discussing a new song off his Magna Carta Holy Grail album, Jay-Z Blue, the rapper explains to his producer Rick Rubin that the toddler is “something that we both created. We still marvel at her.” Adding that his father was not a part of his life growing up, Jay continues, “He didn’t teach me how to be a man, how to raise a child, how to treat a woman. So of course, my karma, the two things I need I don’t have and I have a daughter.” After he laughs at his luck, he gets serious and takes a moment before he can continue talking, although Jay still holds back tears. ”It’s the paranoia about not being a great dad."
After taking a first look at Jay-Z‘s Magna Carta Holy Grail album via “Holy Grail” – the smooth collaboration with Justin Timberlake – here’s our second offering: BBC. With Timberlake’s name again on the credits, this is possibly the most star-studded tune on the album, with Nas, Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and Beyonce‘s also featured on (or part of the production process behind) the track. Magna Carta Holy Grail will be available for download online on July 9th, but tell us what you think of the two tracks so far in the comments below.

Uh oh…when Jay-Z gets mad enough or inspired enough to record an impromptu song at 9pm on a Weds night in New York City… we all win! And this morning, the Hot97 Morning Show teamed up with Jay-Z’s LifeAndTimes site to share the results. A heated editorial called “Open Letter.” According to Hot97′s Ebro, Hov was disgusted by the fact that when tuning into CNN, the controversy surrounding him and wife Beyonce’s Cuba trip was the lead story over an international crisis like the North Korean political threat. So he recruited Swizz Beats and Timbaland on a beat, and spat some fire and venom. Clearly, another thing thats been “grinding Jay-Z’s gears” is the discussion about the value of his stake in the Brooklyn Nets now that he is selling that percentage to gain his sports agency accreditation.
