Films: Hugh Jackman Says “The Wolverine” Will Begin Filming This October

It’s been a long, strange road for the sequel to 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine to finally get made. At first, the film was to be helmed by Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky, but he quickly dropped out of the project for personal reasons. Then, before Fox could find another director, the location shooting was delayed indefinitely due to the earthquakes in Japan. [Read More]
Finally, though, Fox landed 3:10 To Yuma director James Mangold and all signs pointed to the project moving forward. Now, The Playlist reports that, in an interview with CHFI, star Hugh Jackman stated that the movie is indeed on the fast track, saying, “We shoot in October so the movie should be out a year after that.”
There's still uncertainty about whether or not The Wolverine will be done in time for next summer, but we’re pretty sure Fox sees this cash cow as more of a "summer blockbuster" than an "awards season contender."
